Project Description

For Sama

Synopsis

For Sama takes the viewers into the depths of the war experience with an intimate and epic journey with the point of view of a woman. Also referred to as a love letter from a mother to her daughter, this film depicts the 5 years time that Waad al-Kateab fell in love, got married, gave birth to Sama during the Allepo uprising in Syria and the events that took place in that region. Waad, while struggling with an impossible choice, catches stories about loss and survival. Whether or not abandoning the city in order to protect the life of her daughter, also means abandoning the freedom struggle for her or not.
