‘The Cry of Migration’ by World-Famous Musicians

The sound of migration resumes its never-lasting journey of thousand years. “The Cry of Migration” will be presented at International Migration film Festival, which is coming up on June 14th. World-famous musicians created a meaningful music video for the opening ceremony of International Migration film Festival, which is organized under the auspices of Presidency of Republic of Turkey, by Ministry of Internal Affairs’ General Directorate of Migration Management, with the contribution of Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

27 musicians, including one of world’s top oud players, Armenian musician of Diyarbakir origin, Ara Dinkjian; Ney player (Neyzen) Bilgin Canaz, whose career includes performing for more than 60 world leaders including the Elizabeth II the Queen of United Kingdom and famous conductor Musa Göçmen, performed the folk song “Suzan Suzi” with various instruments. The anonymous folk song tells the love story of an Assyrian girl and a Muslim boy.

Festival will stream the concerts live

The festival, in which the migrated sounds and instruments will be performing under the title of “The Cry of Migration”, will offer a superb content accompanied by a composition of various instruments. The festival concerts will be streamed live with the realness of a concert venue.

Organized for the first time as the largest and most comprehensive migration themed film festival in the world with more than 50 film, International Migration Film Festival is starting with the idea of underlining the fact that the migration is a common story that all the nations have been through, and with the purpose of raising awareness.

Festival’s Honorary President is Academy Award winner, Assyrian-American actor F. Murray Abraham and the Jury President of International Feature Film Competition is award winning director Nuri Bilge Ceylan.
